Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will soon meet with Manchester City to start discussing a January deal for Kalvin Phillips.

The 28-year-old Englishman seems destined to leave the European champions in the coming months after hardly featuring this season, seeing just 215 minutes of action across eight matches. Pep Guardiola recently admitted to the press that he doesn’t ‘see him in my team’.

Juventus are looking around for intriguing transfer market opportunities, needing to work smarter due to their more sustainable direction, and have identified Phillips as a strong option to bolster Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield, which is missing the suspended Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW, Juventus director Giuntoli is ready to meet with his Manchester City counterparts, possibly during or after their trip to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup, to start negotiations for Phillip.

The Old Lady are hoping to sign the English midfielder on a six-month loan deal with a buy option attached, allowing them to make a permanent move in the summer should they secure Champions League qualification.

Phillips has already seemingly given the green light for a move to Turin but has also attracted the attention of various Premier League clubs like Newcastle United and Tottenham.
