Pep Guardiola remained coy on Simon Hooper's decision to not play an advantage towards the end of Manchester City's 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Midfielder Rodri played a pass towards Haaland, who was fouled by Emerson Royal. The striker, however, managed to retain the ball and play a pass over the top for Grealish who was through on goal.

Referee Hooper allowed play to continue but eventually blew his whistle and awarded City a free kick instead of playing the advantage. City players, led by Haaland, were furious at the decision and surrounded Hooper to make their feelings known.

Replays appeared to show Hooper initially signalling for a foul, but did not blow his whistle, allowing play to continue.

Guardiola refused to be critical of Hooper when asked about it by Sky Sports.

“Next question. I will not do a Mikel Arteta comment,” he said. “It is hard when you review the image, the referee decides to blow the whistle after he has already said to play on. After the pass, the whistle, so I do not understand this action.”

Later, he added: “I don’t want to criticise them (the referees), sometimes on the touchline I lose my mind, but here I don’t like to comment. We didn’t draw because of that.”

Ange Postecoglou acknowledged Tottenham Hotspur's stroke of luck in staying in the game against Manchester City before securing a late equaliser for a 3-3 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Dejan Kulusevski's 90th-minute leveller secured a point for Tottenham away from home.

Son Heung-min put his team ahead before scoring an own goal three minutes later inside the first half.

Phil Foden restored the lead for City with a cool finish, but Giovani Lo Celso equalised in the 69th minute with a curling effort that squeezed past goalkeeper Ederson.

Grealish thought he had won the game after tapping in from close range with nine minutes left, but Kulusevski's late intervention ensured Tottenham avoided a fourth successive Premier League defeat.

"We were lucky to be in it by half-time," Postecoglou said. "City could have blown us away in that period, a bit similar to what happened to us against (Aston) Villa last week.

"We hung in there, second half was a lot better, a lot more control and a lot more belief in the team. We got our reward for that which is great for the lads."

Mauricio Pochettino praised his Chelsea players for rising to the challenge of playing with 10 men for an entire half as they went on to secure a 3-2 victory against Brighton.

Midfielder Conor Gallagher was sent off just before half-time after being shown a second yellow for a challenge on Billy Gilmour.

Enzo Fernandez scored a brace as he helped his side secure an important win in a five-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino said: "I told them at half-time I am happy that that happened (the red card) because it's a great opportunity for us.

"It's a massive challenge. Come on, now we need to show that we are a team. That is a thing that for sure will improve us."

Andoni Iraola was disappointed his Bournemouth side failed to beat Aston Villa, insisting they deserved more than one point from the game.

Ollie Watkins secured a last-minute equaliser as Villa, coming from behind twice, managed to secure a valuable point on the road.

Antoine Semenyo initiated Bournemouth's lead with a low finish before Villa's response came in the 20th minute when Leon Bailey levelled the score.

Despite Dominic Solanke later reinstating Bournemouth's lead in the second half, Watkins stepped in to help Villa secure a comeback.

Iraola said: "It is a hard one to take because before for the game you would take a point against Villa, but considering how the team played and the chances we had we cannot be happy.

"In the end we could not score the third goal even though we had clear chances and we also have to congratulate their goalkeeper who made two or three spectacular saves.

"After the start of the season we needed to improve and we've been doing that.

"We are understanding each other better and the players are physically in a good place. It is obvious we are playing better than we were.

"They are winning duels against tough opposition, but we have to continue because this is a good level from us and it's only enough for one point."

Jurgen Klopp thinks Joel Matip could be set for an extended period on the sidelines after the defender sustained an injury in Liverpool's dramatic 4-3 victory over Fulham.

Matip, 32, went down injured and appeared to be holding his right leg in the second half. He was eventually replaced in the 69th minute for Ibrahima Konate.

Although Matip will need a scan to determine the extent of the potential problem, Klopp feared the worst for his centre-back.

He said: "We lost Joel today. No scan yet but it won't be a short one. We have to get through this."

In a captivating seven-goal thriller at Anfield, Trent Alexander-Arnold secured a dramatic late comeback for Liverpool with an 88th-minute winner.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says there is a disagreement between Eberechi Eze and the club’s medical staff over when the 25-year-old will be able to return from injury.

Eze sustained a left ankle injury during the 2-1 loss at Luton Town last weekend. Hodgson confirmed during the week that the attacking midfielder had suffered “high ankle ligament” damage and was to see a surgeon.

Hodgson was again asked for the latest on Eze’s condition following Palace’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Sunday and revealed the latest on the England international.

Emery says Villa anticipated tough challenge against Bournemouth

Unai Emery said Aston Villa knew how difficult it would be to win against Bournemouth as his side drew 2-2 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ollie Watkins snatched a dramatic equaliser in the 90th minute as Villa twice came from behind to steal a point away from home.

Villa head coach Emery said to BBC Sport: "It's a good point. We were aware it would be difficult to get a victory today.

"The point is good for us when you are losing a match. We will try to use this point. We prefer to control the game but it was not easy, they had very good chances."

Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring for Bournemouth with a clever low finish following a mistake by Diego Carlos.

Leon Bailey equalised for Villa in the 20th minute, cutting in from the right and firing through a crowded area.

Dominic Solanke then restored Bournemouth's lead in the second half, but Watkins intervened help get Villa back into the game.

England's Euro 2024 squad state of play: who goes, who misses out

The first part of England’s potential path through Euro 2024 has been mapped out. Attentions will now turn to who travels on the plane to Germany. Will Southgate stick by most of the players who have served him well over the course of his seven years in the impossible job? Or will he twist and pick based purely on form?

Everything you need to know about Euro 2024 tickets

The 2024 European Championship takes place in Germany between June 14 and July 14.

The qualifiers started in March and conclude in November before March’s play-offs to determine the final 24 competing teams.

There was record ticket demand for Euro 2020, with the tournament attracting 28.3million ticket requests, and next summer’s tournament has proved to be similarly popular.

This is not without its controversy, with supporter disappointment at missing out on tickets during the first round of balloting compounded by tickets then swiftly appearing on resale sites for substantially inflated prices.

The Athletic has the lowdown on the Euro 2024 ticketing situation.

Steve Cooper endures the jeers as cracks begin to appear at Forest

Over the years, boos have echoed around the City Ground on plenty of occasions. In previous eras, it became a fairly regular occurrence at the final whistle during times of struggle.

But it has never been like that under Steve Cooper.

Such dissent has been a rarity. Boos, generally speaking, have been reserved for the match officials or, occasionally, opposition managers or players who have done something to irk Nottingham Forest’s fiercely partisan crowd.

Which is why, when plenty inside the famous old stadium erupted into a chorus of jeers as Everton celebrated a 1-0 away victory there on Saturday evening, it felt a telling moment.
