Chelsea 'receive proposal' to bring back Eden Hazard (reliability: 4 stars)

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Chelsea 'have received a proposal' to bring back Eden Hazard who's had a difficult spell at Real Madrid.

As per the source, the Blues have been approached by 'intermediaries' and asked if they'd be interested in the Belgian's report.

Real Madrid are trying to trim their wage bill, as well as their transfer budget. Hazard's €100m signing was their biggest deal of the last seven years.

To avoid losses, Madrid will have to sell the 30-year-old for at least €60m. This is one of the factors that are putting Chelsea off the opportunity to take him back.

Another reason is that the Blues have plenty of top players in Hazard's position. The likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic have all had a better season than Eden in the last campaign.

This is why it will be hard for Hazard to return to Stamford Bridge this summer, especially if Chelsea are serious about pursuing Erling Haaland or another top-tier striker.
