Xabi Alonso gives 'positive signal' to Bayern during talks

Sky Germany report that Bayern have begun negotiations with Xabi Alonso over succeeding Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

The early talks have yielded 'positive signal' for the Bundesliga champions from the Spaniard.

Sky add that Bayern would have to pay between £15m and £20m in compensation fees to Bayer for the 42-year-old.

The news comes as a heavy blow for Liverpool as Alonso is said to be their preferred candidate to take over from Jurgen Klopp, who leaves in the summer.
