Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are perplexed by what Tanguy Ndombele has posted on Instagram last night.

The out-of-favour France international has uploaded a very cryptic message on social media.

Ndombele, a £63 million club-record signing for Tottenham in 2019 [Sky Sports], posted a photo of himself with Harry Kane.

And instead of using words to give context, he included only hourglass emojis.

In the football world, this is often a way of saying something is ‘only a matter of time’ and here’s how some Spurs supporters reacted to the former Lyon midfielder’s gesture on Twitter:

It’s interesting that Ndombele hasn’t featured all that much for Tottenham in recent weeks.

Since caretaker manager Ryan Mason took over from Jose Mourinho last month, Ndombele has only managed 83 minutes across four games – and 73 of those came in Mason’s first match in charge, a 2-1 win over Southampton.

Tottenham fans could be forgiven for thinking he is hinting at some sort of summer move.

After all, he was heavily linked with a switch away from North London after the 2019-20 campaign, so speculation wouldn’t be hugely surprising.

That being said, Ndombele wouldn’t be clawing for the exit without knowing who Mourinho’s long-term replacement is.

Quite a lot of big names are linked to the post and it makes zero sense for the midfielder to want to leave without knowing who he’s going to be playing for next season and beyond.
