Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has been a bit of a revelation at Stamford Bridge since arriving there last summer.

Malo Gusto has settled in well at Chelsea and has now told Le Parisien that Thiago Silva has given him some great advice.

The right-back had a couple of injury problems earlier in the season and says his team-mate has told him what to do when recovering from a fitness issue.

When Gusto has been on the pitch, he has managed to have a big influence on games. The 20-year-old is a constant threat down that right-hand side, registering seven assists in all competitions this term.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy was really impressed with Gusto in the Blues’ 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Monday.

Thiago Silva’s advice to Malo Gusto

Silva has warned Gusto not to be in a hurry when recovering from an injury and to listen to his body.

Speaking about the Brazilian and the discussions he has had with him since arriving at Chelsea, Gusto said: “What struck me when I first arrived was that, at his age, he’s focused on everything he does and he’s very fussy. He arrives at training early, leaves late and pays great attention to his body.

“That’s what inspires me about him. We’ve talked about a lot of things, his career, his time in Paris, and he really pushes me to pay attention to every detail and to listen to my body, because it’s our work tool.

“I had some minor physical problems at the start of the season, and he always told me to focus all my recovery on listening to my body, to give it what it needs without being in a hurry to come back or do too much. Just be with it.”

Chelsea need Malo Gusto to remain fit for the rest of the season

With Reece James still out after undergoing hamstring surgery, Chelsea really cannot afford for Gusto to get injured.

He is now the only natural right-back Mauricio Pochettino has available to him and is one of the team’s biggest threats.

The France international is a proper modern-day full-back who can carry the ball into the final third and put dangerous balls into the box.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville claimed that Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon could not handle him on Monday as he attacked his and Dan Burn’s flank.
